Creative Networking Tip: Be Distinctive

To distinguish yourself and make yourself memorable at business networking events, prepare something that will accent your presence. Be distinctive.

For example, you might...

  • Wear something interesting -- an interesting outfit, brooch or tie
  • Bring a conversation piece, like a fancy card holder or magic wand
  • Offer a personal takeaway, something that can be useful to the person right away, like a pen and paper with your company logo. People often forget things like this at networking events.
  • Be generous with leads, resources and ideas for others. Taking a special interest in someone else's success typically creates a bigger impact than nearly anything else.
